Make Something Iconic, Explained
The phrase is on half our posters. Here’s what it asks of you.
“Make something iconic” shows up everywhere in this publication: stitched into the Vector Collective tagline, printed on a poster, repeated until it started to sound like a mission statement. It is one, and it means something specific.
Famous is a different word. So are polished, viral, and algorithm-friendly. An icon, in the sense we mean it, is something so specifically itself that it becomes a reference point: the room people compare every other room to, the night every other night gets measured against.
Chasing whatever is already popular gets you a copy. Building the thing you wish existed, and refusing to water it down until strangers approve, gets you a reference point. That belief has its own campaign in this issue, Iconic Is a Mindset.

So when we call a rave, a game night, a mask, or a magazine iconic, the promise is small and strict: it will be unmistakably itself, on purpose, every time.
If you’re building the thing you wish existed, you’re exactly who this publication is for.
